Getting Started with the FMCGX Excel Add-In

The FMCGX Excel Add-In enables you to access data insights from the STF Network and FMCGX curated data platform directly within your Excel environment. Using enterprise Single Sign-On (SSO) security tied to your Microsoft 365 work account, you can access the add-in with seamless authentication—no separate logins required.

Prerequisites

Before getting started, ensure:

  • You have a Microsoft 365 work/school account (linked to your enterprise Active Directory)
  • Your organization has an Office 365 environment with appropriate licenses
  • You are a registered FMCGX user with assigned rights to use the Excel Add-In in your FMCGX profile
  • Your Microsoft 365 Administrator has enabled the add-in for your organization and assigned it to you

For Microsoft 365 Administrators

Overview

The FMCGX Excel Add-In uses Admin Managed Integrated Apps technology through Microsoft 365. This ensures that all user management and security remain within your enterprise control and policy framework.

Two-step process:

  1. Enable the FMCGX Excel Add-In feature in your Office 365 environment
  2. Assign the add-in to designated users

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Access the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre
  2. Sign in with your admin credentials

Step 2: Navigate to Integrated Apps

  1. In the left sidebar, click Settings
  2. Select Integrated apps

Step 3: Upload the FMCGX Add-In

  1. Click Upload custom apps
  2. From the App type dropdown, select Office Add-in
  3. Under Choose how to upload app, select Provide link to manifest file
  4. Copy and paste the following manifest URL into the field:
    https://fmcgx.excel-addin.data-xchange.com/manifest.xml
  5. Click Validate
  6. Once validated, click on the FMCGX-Excel icon to proceed

Step 4: Assign Users to the Add-In

  1. A side window will open; click on Users
  2. Select Specific users / groups
  3. Search for and select the users who should have access to the add-in:
    • Type the username in the search bar
    • Click Update when the user is found
    • Click Done to confirm
  4. Repeat for each user or group you want to grant access
  5. The Added Users list will expand as you assign users

Step 5: Verify Deployment

  • Your organization now has the FMCGX Excel Add-In enabled
  • Assigned users can now activate the add-in in their Excel ribbon
  • You retain full control over which users can access the add-in

Note: Users must also be registered in the FMCGX environment with proper access rights assigned to their profile. If users cannot access the add-in after being assigned, verify their FMCGX account status.


For End Users

Activating the Add-In in Excel

Once your Microsoft 365 Administrator has assigned the FMCGX Excel Add-In to you, follow these steps to activate it:

Step 1: Open Excel

  1. Open Microsoft Excel on your computer
  2. You may be working with an existing spreadsheet or start with a blank workbook

Step 2: Access the Add-In Icon

  1. In the Excel ribbon, look for the Add-Ins section (usually near the right side)
  2. Click the Add-In Icon (or dropdown arrow next to "Get Add-Ins")

Step 3: Find and Select FMCGX

  1. A modal window will open showing available add-ins
  2. At the bottom of the window, click Select
  3. From the list, select ADMIN MANAGED
  4. Find and click FMCGX-Excel
  5. The add-in will load and activate on your ribbon

Step 4: Automatic Sign-In

  1. The FMCGX Excel Add-In uses enterprise SSO for automatic authentication
  2. If you have already logged into Office 365 with your work/school account, you will be automatically signed in
  3. The add-in task pane will open on the right side of your Excel window
  4. You are now ready to access FMCGX data and insights

Using the Add-In

Once activated:

  • Access master data – View product information, customer details, and reference tables
  • Import transactions – Pull orders, invoices, and other documents from the STF Network
  • Export data – Send transactions to your trading partners
  • Map data columns – Configure how your Excel data maps to FMCGX data fields
  • View insights – Explore operational and financial data from your trading network

Troubleshooting

Problem: The FMCGX add-in doesn't appear in my Excel ribbon

  • Verify your Microsoft 365 Administrator has assigned the add-in to you
  • Close Excel completely and reopen it
  • Try restarting your computer

Problem: I see an authentication error when opening the add-in

  • Ensure you have logged in to Office 365 with your enterprise work/school account
  • Check that you are a registered FMCGX user with proper access rights
  • Contact your IT administrator or the FMCGX Helpdesk for assistance

Problem: The add-in loads but I cannot see any data

  • Verify you have been assigned appropriate data access rights in your FMCGX profile
  • Ensure your organization has been granted access to the trading partners or data you're trying to view
  • Contact the FMCGX Helpdesk for support

Security & Access

  • Your access to the FMCGX Excel Add-In is managed through your Microsoft 365 work/school account
  • All user management and security policies are controlled by your organization's Microsoft 365 Administrator
  • Data is segmented based on your assigned access rights—you only see data you're authorized to access
  • All interactions are fully audited for compliance and security
